YES Young Enterprise Scheme Programme, business - Kiwiquest games

Pascale Hyboud-Peron, co-founder of Venture
Centre, and coordinator of the YES Young Enterprise Scheme Programme, and students
Amber and Indigo, from Otumoetai College. Pascale introduces us to Venture Centre a
Tauranga based entrepreneurship support organisation founded in 2014 that provides
events, programmes and networks, and supports our local students and their business
project- Their purpose is to increase entrepreneurship through capability building and
increase access to the tools of entrepreneurship to our wider community. Pascale
explained that YES is a programme for senior high schools students, during which teams
create and run a business. She said it is very much a 'learn by doing' experience. Amber
and Indigo designed and made a game, which was promoted at our Careers Expo called
"KiwiQuest”. It aims to extend children's knowledge of New Zealand through a fun board
game. Designed for year 4 - 8 students, so far they have sold 150+ games, and have
orders for more than 200 others. Their belief is "the more you know, the more you
grow".
