Rotary Tauranga Annual Easter Book Sale
Rotary Tauranga Annual Book Sale held every Easter and now in it's 30th year, this year being held in Seeka Coolstore, Totara St Mount Maunganui.  Rotary Tauranga's main fundraiser and we think the biggest recycling event in the area. Sunlive article http://www.sunlive.co.nz/news/151996-an-ocean-of-books-at-annual-rotary-event.html
We have been hard at work for the last two months sorting thousands of books, magazines, CD’s, records, DVD’s and jigsaws donated by locals and in readiness for our annual book sale over Easter weekend in Tauranga.  This event would not be the success it is without the help of the forty plus friends of Rotary who spend many volunteer hours helping our members to collect and sort.  Our very sincere thanks to all those who assist. A very special thanks to Seeka who have donated one of their cool stores and provided assistance via one of their work teams for the last two years.

2017 is our 30th Book Sale; we think it is the biggest recycling event in our area and Rotary Tauranga’s main fundraiser.  To add diversity, Tauranga Stamp Club, Ann Westerskov and Tauranga  I.H.C. also come along and participate selling their wares or providing food during the weekend.

The monies raised from the book sale are then donated back to local projects, schools, charities and organisations and assisting those in need internationally and throughout the year.

The weather became a concern, but thankfully cyclone Cook passed through on Thursday.  Saturday, the opening day was fine and warm and the many people queuing to be the first in the doors were happy to stand and enjoy the sun.

Doors opened at 9 am, people flooded in the doors to get to their favourite authors and sections, some spending many hours looking.

The day passed quickly, the car park became full,  and for a time cars crowded the surrounding streets. We estimate up to 2500 people came through the doors. Many chose to return and browse Sunday/Monday, Another year of successful recycling with many books, magazines, DVD's and LP's now in new homes.

Thanks to the many that support us each and every year.
