Considered the biggest recycling event in the district.

Six to eight weeks of set up for 40+ volunteers picking up, sorting and pricing second hand books, magazines, records, DVD’s, music sheets and CD’s to sell at our annual book sale.

Also collected were panel heaters for a group within Tauranga Hospital who then have them certified safe and put in homes with insufficient heating or insulation.

Easter weekend weather was kind, giving the long ling of early starters a sun-soaked area to wait until the doors opened at 9am.  Many know exactly what they want and having been many times move very quickly to their preferred section to pick and choose the best on offer.

Over the three days, young and old come to look, find and add to their pile. They are excited by their finds, pleased they have them and sometimes a bit surprised to see the number of books and other items they have collected.  Comments are made about having enough to read over the coming months, finding a favourite or how easy it was to find their favourite author.

Club members and volunteers are very gratified to see spaces on the tables appearing and getting larger as the weekend progresses.

Another successful year coming full circle with locals donating to our book sale, then coming to buy and those funds raised then spent in the community.  Thank you to everyone who helped make this a success and we look forward to doing the same again next year.
